Tasty, respectful, balanced and competitive
As a major player, we believe we must protect both the environment and the health of our fellow citizens. Our processes are designed to be fit for the future in line with our ambition for sustainability. We believe in offering solutions with added value and have developed an in-depth knowledge of natural, low-calorie, organic, less sugar and free-from products. Our priority is to offer products that are tasty, respectful of the environment, nutritionally balanced and competitive.
Food Safety
Safety is part of our DNA
High food safety standards are an integral part of our business and our history. They are simply non-negotiable.
All of our manufacturing sites are certified to Global Food Safety Initiative Standards (either BRCGS or IFS Food).
We have quality systems in place at each production site and these are regularly audited by our customers. Most of our sites are certified to produce organic, UTZ/Rain Forest Alliance and Fairtrade products. We continuously improve our manufacturing quality.
Health
Health is at the core of what we do
As part of our commitment to health we study the latest scientific research and retail and societal trends. We use our findings to anticipate regulations and protect our consumers’ health. In 2020 we developed a Health & Nutrition Methodology for our French business where we classified ingredients into authorised, best avoided and prohibited. We are rolling this out across the group, progressively eliminating all but authorised ingredients from our recipes. We’ve also chosen to use natural aromas & colourings in most products.
Naturally good products
European consumers are becoming increasingly complex in their expectations, they want convenience, health, indulgence, high quality, sustainability, traceability and more. To meet these demands we have invested heavily in expanding our offer of organic, free-from, vegan, kosher and low-sugar items. We acquired Northumbrian Foods in 2018 and now benefit from their decade-long experience in gluten-free foods. We have a high-quality organic raw material sourcing capability.
Nutrition for the future
We develop the highest quality products with the insight and expertise of our R&D team who work within our production facilities and alongside our quality and industrial teams. We have an efficient, rigorous development process for new products from conception through to production to create innovative products with the best nutrition scores. We continuously review current products to reduce the sugar, salt and saturated fat content and reengineer recipes to meet consumer demands.
